Return of RMS Charity Golf day - Another Great Hit!

Return of RMS Charity Golf day - Another Great Hit!

At the Vale Resort on the 11th August our charity golf day returned. All the hard work preparing definitely paid off and we were overwhelmed with the success - yet again it was a big hit with those attending so thank you to everyone that came along!

As well as celebrating the life of our company’s founder, Peter O’Toole, the RMS Charity Golf Day is a chance to get together and celebrate life in a social setting; something we’ve not been able to do much of for the past couple of years so it was fantastic to see so many individuals out enjoying the day.

We were incredibly lucky to have such amazing weather with clear skies and temperatures of over 30 degrees so we couldn’t have picked a better day for it!

With 23 teams of 4 golfers, the teams played the 18-hole National Course at The Vale using the ever popular Texas Scramble format.

This year we managed to raise £10,000 for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Wales, an organisation which does incredible work supporting young people all over Wales.

Let's recap the brilliant day!

After the teams had enjoyed some refreshments and food to fuel for the day ahead out on the course, we were treated to a brilliant performance and shown the ropes by the ‘GOLF TRICK SHOT GUY’ Paul Barrington.

The teams then made their way to their starting hole ready for the 11am shotgun start and after that the day was well underway and it was certainly going to be a hot one!

And of course with it being an absolute scorcher of a day; we had several RMS team volunteers driving round on the refreshment buggies to offer some well needed refreshments to the players out on the course all day.

After a great day of golf (or not depending on how well you played!) all the teams returned to the club house to enjoy some drinks and a two course meal.

Rugby legend Sam Warburton delivered an insightful Q&A session, along with Sean Holley facilitating the Q&A, on his amazing career, the British and Irish Lions, and his thoughts on club and Welsh Rugby.

It was then time to announce the winners (and the losers)...

The winning team of the 2022 Peter John O’Toole Cup was Team Services 360 - Ross Parfitt, Matthew James, David Cramphorn and Lewis.

We also had some individual competitions throughout the course to keep things interesting! Ben Taylor and Elliott White took away the prizes for the longest drive on hole 4 and hole 10. And then we had 5 winners for nearest to the pin on holes 3,6,8,13 and 17 so congratulations to Sean Holley, Richard Jones, Lewis Lehane, Jack Roberts and Geraint Manning.

Thank you to our generous sponsors for making the day such a huge success, we couldn’t have done it without you.

And another big thank you to the very generous businesses that donated prizes to the charity raffle:

B&Q, John Lewis & Partners, Team Sport Indoor Go Karting, Allen Day Recruitment, Hensol Castle Distillery, Brew Monster and Ella McCormack Make Up.

Thank you for everyone's support and participation in making this year another brilliant one! We hope everyone that attended the day enjoyed themselves and we hope to see you again next year for the 2023 Peter John O'Toole Cup!
