Altius

Altius VA Ltd was founded in 2007 and has extensive experience in providing professional supply chain consultancy services.  They help companies overcome challenges across three key areas: pre-contract, contract delivery, and continuous improvement.

Their objective for every client is to use experience, resources, and systems in the most effective way they know how to make supply chains safer, more reliable, and more competitive while at all times operating with honesty, transparency, and integrity.

Altius is certificated to ISO 9001, accredited by the HSE backed Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) organisation and are members of the British Safety Council, ROSPA and the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce.

RMS is committed to providing the upmost duty of care to our people, our retail partners, and the wider public, striving to make the workplace safe and prevent risks to health.  We work closely with Altius to reinforce this commitment.  They carry out health and safety inspections, expert training for our people, and perform audits on our business management system to ensure best practice.

SafeContractor

RMS always puts employees’ health and safety first, above all else.  We care and are competent in health and safety, and have achieved SafeContractor Approved status to prove it.

Alcumus SafeContractor is the market-leading health and safety accreditation body, an SSIP founding member with 20 years’ experience.  They employ 80 internal auditors to help companies succeed, and their questionnaires are comprised of tailored risk-based questions which are relevant to the profession of a particular client.

The SafeContractor scheme contains over 30,000 members.  It checks that contractors have the necessary requirements around health and safety, equal opportunities, diversity and environmental management practices.

To join them and become SafeContractor accredited, RMS had to complete a health and safety assessment and undergo multiple audits.  The SSIP and PAS91 accreditation grants us confidence that our business meets the right standards, and allows us to demonstrate our health and safety competency to new and existing retail partners.

Sedex

Sedex is one of the world’s leading ethical trade membership organisations, helping businesses to improve working conditions in their supply chains.

Sedex provides innovative solutions to protect people, the environment and business, in a sustainable and ethical way.  They aim to:

  • Enable responsible sourcing through collaboration and information gathering and sharing
  • Make supply chain transparency simple through easy-to-use tools and services
  • Protect people, the environment and business by proactively identifying and managing risk
  • Enable sustainable and responsible business through technological solutions.

To become a member of this organisation, RMS had to undergo a SMETA 2.0 audit – this is where SMETA sends an agent into the field to interview several workers at random to obtain feedback. They also ensure that those individuals are employed by RMS and have a valid contract of employment, their personnel files are complete and accurate, and that their appointed bank account is held in their name.

These audits take place every few years, and they help RMS to uphold the standards concerned with ethical issues such as modern slavery and working conditions.

Working with Sedex enables RMS to better manage our social and environmental performance and improve our supply chain efficiency, highlighting our promise to provide optimum working conditions for our people.
