Making Science Accessible to Everyone

Techniquest, located in Cardiff Bay, is the UK’s longest established science centre.  Founded by Professor John Beetlestone in 1986, Techniquest gives visitors a hands-on approach to science and includes a science theatre, a planetarium, and a discovery centre.  Its aims are to engage people with science and to motivate them to learn more through science-related areas such as maths, engineering, and technology.  Techniquest offers interactive experiences that are accessible to all, and that have been enjoyed in its centre by over 5 million people over the past 35 years.

Formulating a Vibrant and Exciting Space

 

As the appointed Principal Contractor for the retail installation aspect of Techniquest's expansion project, RMS was responsible for ensuring that all aspects of health and safety and risk management were covered, and that our part of the project was completed to the highest standard.

RMS was responsible for creating the new retail space and lobby area.  We provided consultancy services to advise Techniquest on how best to maximise sales from visitors to the centre.  Our team then designed, built, and installed all of the internal assets such as the wooden shelving and displays, and finished by fully merchandising the shop so that it was customer-ready. 

We were delighted to have been involved in transforming the iconic centre and are proud of the final result.  The design has given the much-loved facility a contemporary look which will be sure to appeal to both new and loyal visitors.  The project has given Techniquest a new lease of life, ensuring it a long-term future in Wales.
