Improving the Christmas Shopping Experience

The critical Christmas period, known as the ‘Golden Quarter’, is the busiest and most profitable time of the year for the majority of retailers.  Our role at RMS is to provide our retail partners with the support that they need during this peak period to ensure that they maximise their sales.

Following our successful delivery of the Tesco Festive project in December 2018, we were once again appointed by Tesco to support them with the 2019 Festive project.  We were responsible for ensuring that the shelves remained fully stocked across over 200 stores in the UK including Northern Ireland.  From Amersham to Antrim, York to Yeovil, we delivered over 113,000 hours in just a few weeks.  Initial calculations estimate we helped to move over £100m of stock to the shop floor.

Underpinned by Technology

This Festive Project was defined by the use of flex.  flex is our resource management system that utilises geofencing technology; it enabled us to effectively manage thousands of people across the country.  Every member of our team who worked in a Tesco store downloaded the myflex app on their smartphones to check in and out of each shift, allowing for 100% accurate time recording. This live data enabled staff at RMS HQ to quickly respond to issues and create accurate reports for the partner.

Contributing to our Retail Partner’s Success

By delivering a consistent, quality service, RMS contributed to helping Tesco emerge triumphant after a very challenging Christmas period.  They led the pack of supermarket giants, and their strong performance saw a 0.4% increase in their like-for-like sales in the 6 weeks to January 4th.
